Calvin Lee bio for the Friends of Music Docs Play the Pops program in Modesto, CA

This biography has a bit more about my piano playing.
Docs Play the Pops / Modesto Friends of Music website

Dr. Calvin Lee (General Surgeon & Accupuncturist) is a Board Certified General Surgeon who took piano lessons from age 5 to age 10. He regrets being fired by his piano teacher for being an unteachable student. Practicing wasn’t one of his favorite activities at age 10. He recently started playing piano again for the last few years. Dr. Lee has been playing violin since age seven. Highlights of his violin accomplishments are playing in New York with jazz musician Dave Brubeck and his trio, winning the concerto competition at Brown University twice, and being concertmaster of orchestras at Brown University, Harvard, All State New York and All Eastern USA. Dr. Lee and his wife, Dr. Tammy Wu, Plastic Surgeon now work together in their new medical group Surgical Artistry. Dr. Lee is a member of the board of directors of the Modesto Symphony. Now he tries to fit in piano practice as often as he can. In 2009, he had the opportunity to be one of three amateurs (Dr. Lee was the only medical doctor) who won a spot at Carnegie Hall with the YouTube Symphony Orchestra violin section directed by Michael Tilson Thomas, the conductor of the San Francisco Symphony.
